Purging the PG with "Idol" - my next short film
Idol is the next film I'll be directing. It's another short.
So far in 2018 I've written and sold three screenplays (all Christmas TV movies which will air in the fall of 2018 - more on that in another post)
Having lived in the PG world of Christmas rom-coms since February, I've sorta felt the need to "purge the PG" as I put it.
Idol is a short film I started writing in 2015 in the wake of the Patrick Kane rape investigation. It was a finalist in the Scriptapalooza shorts competition.
It's a pretty dark film that deals with celebrity culture, sports worship, and a toxic fan base. It seems a bit topical and we plan on filming in the early fall of 2018.
The transition from writing family-friendly Christmas rom-coms to developing a darker short film like Idol highlights the versatility and creativity of the filmmaker. Inspired by real-world conversations surrounding celebrity culture, sports fandom, and the influence of public figures, Idol appears to tackle complex and timely themes that remain relevant today. Its recognition as a finalist in the Scriptapalooza shorts competition suggests that the story resonated with readers and industry professionals alike. Just as aspiring filmmakers seek guidance to refine their craft, students often look for academic support with requests like help me do my assignment when facing challenging projects. Both creative and academic success often depend on dedication, research, and the willingness to explore difficult subjects with depth and perspective.
